When You Are Chosen by God

Elder Folabi declared: “There’s a difference between being called and being chosen. Many are called, few are chosen. Don’t miss your moment. Don’t ignore your assignment. If God has chosen you, walk boldly in it!”

A Reflection on Today’s Sermon by Elder Folabi
Celestial Church of Christ – Harton Street Parish, London, UK & NI HQ

A Divine Selection Beyond Human Understanding

In today’s powerfully anointed service, Elder Folabi delivered a revelatory message titled “When You Are Chosen by God,” stirring the hearts of worshippers with a reminder that divine selection is not about status, talent, or background—it is about purpose, obedience, and alignment with heaven’s agenda.

He began by unpacking the truth that being chosen by God is both a privilege and a responsibility. Using examples from Scripture such as David, Moses, Esther, and Mary the mother of Jesus, Elder Folabi explained that God’s choices often defy logic. “He doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called.”

1. The Evidence of Divine Choice

Elder Folabi taught that when God chooses a person:

  • They stand out, even when they try to hide.

  • They are protected, even in battles they didn’t see coming.

  • They face rejection by men but are endorsed by God.

  • They often experience a season of preparation that may feel like isolation.

“David was forgotten by his father but found by God. When you are chosen, God sends for you—even if you’re in the wilderness.”

2. Being Chosen Comes with Refinement

The sermon didn’t sugarcoat the reality of being chosen. Elder Folabi emphasized that divine selection includes refining trials, testing seasons, and spiritual warfare.

“Joseph was chosen through dreams but proven through pits and prisons before reaching the palace. Your trials are not punishment—they are your preparation.”

He reminded the church that divine favor doesn’t exempt anyone from affliction, but it assures victory and divine backing through every phase.

3. The Purpose of the Calling

Why does God choose certain people? Elder Folabi gave a clear answer: to bear fruit that remains.

God’s calling is always:

  • Mission-driven

  • Kingdom-focused

  • Meant to bless others

He urged everyone not to sit on their calling or let fear make them abandon their assignment.

“If God has chosen you, rise and serve. Don’t delay. Someone’s deliverance is tied to your obedience.”

4. Signs You Are Chosen by God

The message also touched on how to recognize God’s hand upon your life:

  • You carry a deep sense of purpose.

  • You face unusual spiritual attacks, yet survive.

  • You are drawn to intercession, ministry, or service.

  • You receive divine instructions that may not make sense to others.

A Call to Commitment

In his closing charge, Elder Folabi declared:

“There’s a difference between being called and being chosen. Many are called, few are chosen. Don’t miss your moment. Don’t ignore your assignment. If God has chosen you, walk boldly in it!”

The altar call that followed was one of deep surrender and rededication, as many worshippers came forward weeping and praying, accepting the weight and wonder of being chosen.

Final Reflection

Today’s service was a divine reminder that God’s choosing is intentional. He sees beyond who we are and into who we can become. If you are chosen, don’t resist—respond.

May we all embrace our callings with faith, humility, and fire.
